Storage
Carpathia has a range of storage solutions to meet your application performance and budget needs in both dedicated and virtualized environments.

Selecting the appropriate storage solution starts with a review of your environment with our solutions engineers. They will help you understand the I/O operations per second your applications will require, redundancy and replication schemes. These typically result in the selection of one or more of our storage tiers.

Carpathia Manged Hosting

Direct Attached

In this mode the storage is connected typically by fibre to your server using a host bus adaptor. Multi-pathing gives increased redundancy between servers and the storage device.  The storage array then is configured for the appropriate redundancy and performance per the applications connecting to it. Direct attached arrays can support up to 15 disks using SAS or SATA disks. Many storage arrays also support expansion modules’ allowing over 144 drives to be connected. Direct Attached storage is also a foundational building block to creating clustered solutions for high availability computing.

Storage Area Network (SAN)

Our SAN solution uses state of the art high performance storage devices connected to your servers via Fibre with 1gb or 4gb links.  San is suitable for the most demanding applications and supports advanced storage capabilities including replication. Carpathia storage engineers ensure the SAN is tuned optimally for your environment and continuously monitors for errors.

Network Attached

Carpathias NAS solution allows customers to tap into storage published over the network in either as a dedicated or shared solution. NAS solutions offer good price/performance mix for many uses. Our NAS solution is delivered over a separate network created just for your storage needs to avoid conflicts with other network traffic. NAS solutions also provide advanced storage capabilities such as replication and snapshots.

Storage Cloud

Our storage cloud has been designed to allow customers to pay for what they need when they need it. Our solution offers customers the ability to tune how many copies of the data should be stored in the cloud to improve redundancy and performance. Using native storage load balancing the cloud optimizes itself based on your demands. Storage clouds are local to the datacenter so you gain the benefits of a cloud solution without the latency typically associated with internet based storage solutions.  Our storage cloud also appears to your servers as a file system, requiring no modifications to your applications to make use of the cloud.
