General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD - News), was selected to provide engineering services and datacenter facilities in support the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Grants.gov line of Business initiative.

Under the contract, General Dynamics Information Technology is required to relocate and maintain the existing Grants.gov system. The contract also calls for General Dynamics Information Technology to build an improved Grants.gov system for delivery in March 2007 as well as provide ongoing maintenance and enhancements of the new system for the life of the contract. The award necessitated fully managed hosting from a provider that could meet both the aggressive security and availability requirements.

Carpathia Hosting is providing fully managed hosting services to the application layer. The solution includes a dedicated private cage with fully managed, high availability Firewall, Load Balancing and Intrusion Detection services. Network connectivity is provided by Carpathia’s intelligent routed network solution (CIRN).
